Bubble tea, also known as boba tea, is a refreshing drink made with various bases (tea, milk, syrups) and delicious add-ins such as tapioca pearls, jellies, or popping boba.
To make bubble tea, you’ll need:
– A drink base (tea, water, milk, coffee, or matcha)
– Add-ins (tapioca pearls, jellies, or popping boba)
– A syrup to define the main flavor
Accessories:
- Wide straws (D=12mm) – essential for sipping the pearls through
- Boba spoon – for easily separating pearls from the liquid; also works as a measuring spoon (recommended)
- Cups and lids – for serving, as needed
- Ice – optional
- Lemon, lime, or mint – for extra flavor, if desired
They are mainly made of:
- Water and fructose/glucose syrup – for sweetness and a juicy filling;
- Plant fibers and natural gelling agents (sodium alginate from seaweed, starch, xanthan gum) – to create the thin outer shell;
- Calcium salts – help form the coating around the juice;
- Fruit flavors and juice powders – give each ball its specific taste (strawberry, mango, passion fruit, etc.);
- Acidity regulators (malic acid, sometimes sorbitol, etc.) – to balance the flavor;
- Preservative (potassium sorbate) – keeps the pearls fresh;
- Colorants (depending on flavor) – provide bright, fruit-inspired colors.
Most of our products (tapioca, syrups, popping boba, jellies) are vegan and lactose-free.
Some bubble tea mixes/powders may contain dairy ingredients, but the Taro and Vanilla mixes do not contain dairy ingredients.
